West Bromwich Albion v Ipswich Town

Championship | The Hawthorns
Saturday, 25 November 2023 @ 5.30pm

Ipswich Town face a challenge to maintain their high-scoring form away against a tight West Bromwich Albion defence on Saturday.

With 36 goals in 16 games, Ipswich are the top scorers in the Championship ahead of the 5.30pm kick-off at the Hawthorns.

They face a Baggies side who have scored 26 in 16 matches, but conceded only 17 goals, putting them joint-fourth among the league's tightest defences – only Leicester City, Leeds United and Bristol City have conceded fewer goals.

Ipswich are second in the table after 16 games, of which they have won 12 and drawn three, earning 39 points.

West Bromwich are five places behind Town in seventh, with seven wins and five draws putting them on 26 points.

In Alex Palmer, Albion can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept seven clean sheets in his 16 appearances this season, and no 'keeper has prevented the opposition scoring more often in the Championship.

In the Blues' net, Václav Hladký has six clean sheets in 16 games. He has conceded a goal every 80 minutes, 10% more often than the 90 minutes between goals for Palmer.

The Baggies are in mixed form in the Championship, with three wins and a draw from their last six games.

With four wins and two draws over that period, the visitors' form is better – they have taken 14 points from 18, compared to the home side's 10.

West Bromwich's last match was on November 11, a 2-1 loss against Southampton, with Kyle Bartley getting the goal for the Baggies.

Ipswich beat Swansea City 3-2 last time out, also on November 11, with Conor Chaplin, George Hirst and Jack Taylor on the scoresheet.
