West Bromwich Albion v Hull City

Championship | The Hawthorns
Saturday, 4 November 2023 @ 3.00pm

Hull City travel to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in the Championship.

The visitors come into the game on the back of a win in their last match, having beaten Preston North End 1-0 at home, with a goal from Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

The Baggies also won their last match, 2-0 against Coventry City, with their goals scored by Brandon Thomas-Asante and Grady Diangana.

In Alex Palmer, West Bromwich can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept seven clean sheets in his 14 appearances this season, and no 'keeper has prevented the opposition scoring more often in the Championship.

In Hull's net, Ryan Allsop has three clean sheets in eight games. He has conceded a goal every 90 minutes, 10% more often than the 97 minutes between goals for Palmer.

In the last 10 years, West Bromwich and Hull have played each other on 15 occasions. West Bromwich won nine of them, Hull three, and they drew three times.

On average, the Baggies scored 1.7 goals and the Tigers 1.1 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on March 3, when Hull won 2-0 at home.

With 22 goals in 14 games so far this season, Albion are scoring more than average in the league with 1.6 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 14 goals at a rate of 1.0 per game.

City, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game. They have conceded 1.1 goals per game.

The Baggies are fifth in the table after 14 games, of which they have won six and drawn five, earning 23 points.

The Tigers are two places behind the hosts in seventh, with six wins and five draws putting them on the same number of points.

West Bromwich are in good form in the Championship, with four wins and a draw from their last six games.

With two wins and two draws over that period, the away side's form is worse – they have taken eight points from 18, compared to West Bromwich's 13.
