Huddersfield Town travel to the Stadium of Light looking to secure a first win in six Championship games against Sunderland on late Wednesday.

The Terriers have lost three and drawn two matches since they last earned three points – against Queens Park Rangers on October 21.

They face a Sunderland side who have won two and drawn one over that time.

Huddersfield are 21st in the table after 17 games, of which they have won three and drawn seven, earning 16 points.

Sunderland are 12 places ahead of Town in ninth, with eight wins and two draws putting them on 26 points.

With 15 goals in 17 games so far this season, the Terriers are the league's third-lowest scorers with 0.9 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 29 goals at a rate of 1.7 per game.

The Black Cats, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.6 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.1 goals per game.

In Jack Clarke, the home side have one of the league's most on-form strikers so far this season. He has notched nine goals in 17 appearances, to sit third in the scoring charts.

His goal rate of one every 166 minutes is much quicker than that of Michal Helik, the visitors' top scorer with a goal every 383 minutes, and a total of four goals in 17 games.

Sunderland's last match was on Saturday, a 2-0 loss against Plymouth Argyle.

Huddersfield drew 1-1 with Southampton last time out, also on Saturday, with Ben Jackson on the scoresheet.

Wednesday's match will be refereed by Matt Donohue, who has taken charge of 10 Championship games so far this season, issuing no red cards and booking 41 players. He has awarded two penalties.

The last Huddersfield game Donohue refereed was the 1-0 loss away at Hull City on November 11. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Sunderland this season.
