Stoke City v Leeds United
Championship | bet365 Stadium
Wednesday, 25 October 2023 @ 8.00pm
Leeds United visit Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on late Wednesday on the back of three consecutive wins in the Championship.
Leeds have picked up 13 points from their last six games, and they face a Potters side who also won their last, and have collected seven points from the last possible 18.
With Illan Meslier between the sticks, Leeds can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept five clean sheets in his 12 appearances this season, and no 'keeper has prevented the opposition scoring more often in the Championship.
In Stoke's net, Mark Travers has one clean sheet in 12 games. He has conceded a goal every 60 minutes, 60% more often than the 98 minutes between goals for Meslier.
With 13 goals in 12 games so far this season, City are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.1 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 18 goals at a rate of 1.5 per game.
United, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.7 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.1 goals per game.
The visitors are third in the table after 12 games, of which they have won six and drawn four, earning 22 points.
The Potters are 17 places behind Leeds in 20th, with four wins and one draw putting them on 13 points.
Stoke's last match was on Saturday, a 2-1 win against Sunderland, with Luke McNally and Ryan Mmaee getting the goals for the Potters.
Leeds beat Norwich City 3-2 last time out, also on Saturday, with Crysencio Summerville (two) and Shane Duffy (own goal) on the scoresheet.
Wednesday's match will be refereed by Paul Tierney, who is taking charge of his first Championship game this season.
He is yet to oversee a match featuring either Stoke or Leeds this season.
