Southampton Women v Charlton Athletic Ladies

FA Women's Championship | St. Mary's Stadium
Sunday, 12 November 2023 @ 2.00pm

Two of the FA Women's Championship's top sides face each other at St. Mary's in Sunday's early kick-off, when second-placed Southampton Women host third-placed Charlton Athletic Ladies.

Southampton have picked up six wins from nine games so far this season, and sit on the same number of points as the visitors going into the 2pm match.

The Addicks, meanwhile, have won five and drawn three, picking up 18 points.

With 17 goals in nine games so far this season, Southampton are the league's second-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in nine goals at a rate of 1.0 per game.

Charlton Athletic, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game. They have conceded 0.8 goals per game.

In Sian Rogers, the Addicks can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. She has kept three clean sheets in her six appearances this season, and only one other 'keeper – Sunderland Women's Claudia Moan – has been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the FA Women's Championship.

In the Saints' net, Kayla Rendell has two clean sheets in nine games. She has conceded a goal every 116 minutes, 40% more often than the 164 minutes between goals for Rogers.

The hosts are in reasonable form in the FA Women's Championship, with four wins and two losses from their last six games.

With five wins and a draw over that period, the away team's form is better – they have taken 16 points from 18, compared to Southampton's 12.

Southampton's last match was on November 5, a 2-1 win against Sheffield United Ladies, with Katie Wilkinson and Sophia Pharoah getting the goals for the Saints.

Charlton Athletic beat Lewes Women 1-0 last time out, on November 3, with Kayleigh Green on the scoresheet.
