Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham United
Championship | Hillsborough
Sunday, 29 October 2023 @ 1.00pm
Struggling Sheffield Wednesday face Rotherham United at Hillsborough on Sunday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.
After securing all three points with a 0-3 victory over Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday, the Owls sit bottom of the Championship.
They travel to play a Rotherham side 22nd in the standings, who also won their last match, 2-0 against Coventry City.
Wednesday are in terrible form in the Championship, with no wins and a draw from their last six games.
With a win and two draws over that period, Rotherham's form is better – they have taken five points from 18, compared to the Owls's one.
In the last five years, Wednesday and Rotherham have played each other on seven occasions. Wednesday won two of them, Rotherham three, and they drew twice.
On average, the Owls scored 1.1 goals and the Millers 1.6 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on February 13 2022, when Rotherham won 2-0 away.
With five goals in 13 games so far this season, the home side are the league's lowest scorers with 0.4 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 22 goals at a rate of 1.7 per game.
United are also below average scorers, with 1.0 goal per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 1.8 goals per game.
Sunday's match will be refereed by Andy Davies, who has taken charge of two Championship games so far this season, issuing one red card and booking seven players. He has not awarded any penalties.
He is yet to oversee a match featuring either Wednesday or Rotherham this season.
