Sheffield Wednesday v Leicester City
Championship | Hillsborough
Wednesday, 29 November 2023 @ 7.45pm
Mid-season relegation candidates Sheffield Wednesday face a challenge against high-flying Leicester City at Hillsborough on Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, and have picked up just one win and three draws in their 17 games to date.
The Foxes, meanwhile, are top of the standings with 42 points, having won 14 and drawn none.
With eight goals in 17 games so far this season, Wednesday are the league's lowest scorers with 0.5 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 29 goals at a rate of 1.7 per game.
Leicester, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.8 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have conceded 0.6 goals per game.
With Mads Hermansen between the sticks, City can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept six clean sheets in his 16 appearances this season, and only one other 'keeper – West Bromwich Albion's Alex Palmer – has been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Championship.
In the Owls' net, Cameron Dawson has two clean sheets in eight games. He has conceded a goal every 55 minutes, nearly three times as often as the 144 minutes between goals for Hermansen.
The hosts are in bad form in the Championship, with one win and five losses from their last six games.
With four wins and two losses over that period, the Foxes' form is much better – they have taken 12 points from 18, compared to Wednesday's three.
Wednesday's last match was on Saturday, a 2-1 loss against Birmingham City, with George Byers getting the goal for the Owls.
Leicester beat Watford 2-0 last time out, also on Saturday, with Jamie Vardy on the scoresheet.
