Liverpool v Everton

Premier League | Anfield
Saturday, 21 October 2023 @ 12.30am

Liverpool are heavy favourites to keep all three points at home in Saturday lunchtime's kick-off against Everton.

The Reds, who sit fourth in the Premier League with eight games played, are priced at 1.3 to seal victory at Anfield.

Sitting 12 places and 10 points behind them in the table, Everton are 9.0 to win with betting companies, while the draw is at 6.0.

With 18 goals in eight games so far this season, Liverpool are scoring more than average in the league with 2.2 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in nine goals at a rate of 1.1 per game.

Everton, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.1 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.

In the last 10 years, Liverpool and Everton have played each other on 22 occasions. Liverpool won 11 of them, Everton one, and they drew 10 times.

On average, the Reds scored 1.7 goals and the Toffees 0.7 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on February 13, when Liverpool won 2-0 at home.

In Mohamed Salah, the Reds have one of the league's sharpest shooters so far this season. He has notched five goals in eight appearances, to sit fourth in the scoring charts.

His goal rate of one every 137 minutes is quicker than that of Abdoulaye Doucouré, the Toffees' top scorer with a goal every 227 minutes, and a total of three goals in eight games.

The hosts are in good form in the Premier League, with four wins and a draw from their last six games.

With two wins and a draw over that period, the away team's form is much less good – they have taken seven points from 18, compared to Liverpool's 13.

Liverpool's last match was on October 8, a 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, with Salah getting the goals for the Reds.

Everton beat AFC Bournemouth 3-0 last time out, on October 7, with Doucouré, Jack Harrison and James Garner on the scoresheet.

Saturday's match will be refereed by Craig Pawson, who has taken charge of five Premier League games so far this season, issuing one red card and booking 25 players. He has awarded one penalty.

The last Everton game Pawson refereed was the 1-0 loss at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 26. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Liverpool this season.
