Leicester City v Sunderland
Championship | King Power Stadium
Tuesday, 24 October 2023 @ 8.00pm
Tuesday's late match between Leicester City and Sunderland promises to be one for the neutrals, as two of the Championship's most free-scoring sides go head-to-head.
Ahead of the game at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes and the Black Cats sit top and fourth in the goal-scoring charts, with 26 and 21 goals respectively.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Kelechi Iheanacho lead the way for the home side, having bagged five goals each in their 12 games to date.
And Jack Clarke has been the main man in the opponents' penalty box for Sunderland, with eight goals.
Leicester are top of the table after 12 games, of which they have won 11 and lost one, earning 33 points.
Sunderland are five places behind City in sixth, with six wins and one draw putting them on 19 points.
The Foxes are in exceptional form in the Championship, with six wins and no losses from their last six games.
With three wins and three losses over that period, the Black Cats's form is much less good – they have taken nine points from 18, compared to the home side's 18.
With Mads Hermansen between the sticks, Leicester can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept four clean sheets in his 11 appearances this season, and only three other 'keepers – West Bromwich Albion's Alex Palmer, Leeds United's Illan Meslier and Ipswich Town's Václav Hladký – have been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Championship.
In the visitors' net, Anthony Patterson also has four clean sheets in 12 games. He has conceded a goal every 83 minutes, 70% more often than the 141 minutes between goals for Hermansen.
Leicester's last match was on Saturday, a 3-1 win against Swansea City, with Issahaku Abdul Fatawu, Jannik Vestergaard and Ịheanachọ getting the goals for the Foxes.
Sunderland lost 2-1 against Stoke City last time out, also on Saturday, with Clarke on the scoresheet.
Tuesday's match will be refereed by Keith Stroud, who has taken charge of six Championship games so far this season, issuing one red card and booking 33 players. He has not awarded any penalties.
The last Sunderland game Stroud refereed was the 0-0 draw away at Coventry City on August 26. He is yet to oversee a match featuring Leicester this season.
