Leeds United v Plymouth Argyle

Championship | Elland Road
Saturday, 11 November 2023 @ 3.00pm

Plymouth Argyle face a challenge to maintain their high-scoring form away against a tight Leeds United defence on Saturday.

With 26 goals in 15 games, Plymouth are the joint-third-highest scorers in the Championship ahead of the 3pm kick-off at Elland Road.

They face a Leeds side who have scored 25 in 15 matches, but conceded only 15 goals, putting them joint-second among the league's tightest defences – only Leicester City have conceded fewer goals.

Leeds are third in the table after 15 games, of which they have won eight and drawn four, earning 28 points.

Plymouth are 16 places behind United in 19th, with four wins and four draws putting them on 16 points.

With Illan Meslier between the sticks, the hosts can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept six clean sheets in his 15 appearances this season, and only one other 'keeper – West Bromwich Albion's Alex Palmer – has been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Championship.

In Argyle's net, Conor Hazard has two clean sheets in 11 games. He has conceded a goal every 66 minutes, 60% more often than the 104 minutes between goals for Meslier.

Leeds are in fantastic form in the Championship, with five wins and one loss from their last six games.

With a win and two draws over that period, the Pilgrims' form is much worse – they have taken five points from 18, compared to Leeds' 15.

Leeds' last match was on November 3, a 1-0 win against Leicester City, with Georginio Rutter getting the goal for Leeds.

Plymouth drew 3-3 with Middlesbrough last time out, on November 4, with Bali Mumba, Finn Azaz and Morgan Whittaker on the scoresheet.
