Huddersfield Town v Watford
Championship | John Smith's Stadium
Saturday, 4 November 2023 @ 3.00pm
Watford travel to Huddersfield Town on Saturday in the Championship.
The visitors come into the game on the back of a draw in their last match, having tied with Millwall 2-2 at home, with goals from Mileta Rajovic and Yaser Asprilla.
The Terriers, meanwhile, lost their last match, 4-1 against Leeds United, with their goal scored by Michal Helik.
In the last 10 years, Huddersfield and Watford have played each other on 11 occasions. Huddersfield won six of them and Watford five.
On average, the Terriers scored 1.8 goals and the Hornets 1.6 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on April 7, when Huddersfield won 3-2 away.
Huddersfield are 21st in the table after 14 games, of which they have won three and drawn five, earning 14 points.
Watford are five places ahead of Town in 16th, with four wins and five draws putting them on 17 points.
In Daniel Bachmann, the Hornets can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept five clean sheets in his 14 appearances this season, and only two other 'keepers – West Bromwich Albion's Alex Palmer and Ipswich Town's Václav Hladký – have been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Championship.
In the Terriers' net, Lee Nicholls has two clean sheets in 14 games. He has conceded a goal every 48 minutes, 50% more often than the 70 minutes between goals for Bachmann.
The hosts are in disappointing form in the Championship, with one win and two draws from their last six games.
With two wins and two draws over that period, the away side's form is better – they have taken eight points from 18, compared to Huddersfield's five.
With 14 goals in 14 games so far this season, Huddersfield are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.0 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 27 goals at a rate of 1.9 per game.
Watford are also below average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.4. They have also conceded 1.3 goals per game.
