Real Zaragoza v Real Oviedo
Segunda División | Estadio de la Romareda
Monday, 6 November 2023 @ 8.00pm
Real Oviedo face Real Zaragoza on Monday seeking to protect their long unbeaten run in the Segunda División.
Real Oviedo are unbeaten in six, with four wins and two draws, ahead of the 8pm kick-off.
They face a Zaragoza team who have won one and drawn two over the same number of games.
With Leo Román between the sticks, Oviedo can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept six clean sheets in his 13 appearances this season, and only two other 'keepers – Leganés' Diego Conde and CD Tenerife's Juan Soriano Oropesa – have been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Segunda División.
In Zaragoza's net, Cristian Darío Álvarez has five clean sheets in 10 games. He has conceded a goal every 146 minutes, 30% more often than the 195 minutes between goals for Román Riquelme.
With 11 goals in 13 games so far this season, Real Oviedo are scoring at below the league average rate with 0.8 goals per game. But they are conceding fewer than average too, letting in seven goals at a rate of 0.5 per game.
Real Zaragoza, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game. They have conceded 0.9 goals per game.
In the last five years, Zaragoza and Oviedo have played each other on nine occasions. Zaragoza won one of them, Oviedo four, and they drew four times.
On average, Real Zaragoza scored 1.3 goals and Real Oviedo 1.7 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on May 7, when Oviedo won 2-1 at home.
The home side are eighth in the table after 13 games, of which they have won six and drawn three, earning 21 points.
The visitors are four places behind Zaragoza in 12th, with four wins and five draws putting them on 17 points.
Zaragoza's last match was on October 30, a 1-1 draw against Burgos CF, with Victor Carpintero Mollejo getting the goal for Real Zaragoza.
Oviedo beat AD Alcorcón 2-0 last time out, on October 29, with Jaime Seoane and Víctor Camarasa on the scoresheet.
