Cardiff City v Norwich City
Championship | Cardiff City Stadium
Saturday, 11 November 2023 @ 3.00pm
Norwich City face a challenge to maintain their high-scoring form away against a tight Cardiff City defence on Saturday.
With 26 goals in 15 games, Norwich are the joint-third-highest scorers in the Championship ahead of the 3pm kick-off at the Cardiff City Stadium.
They face a Bluebirds side who have scored 23 in 15 matches, but conceded only 16 goals, putting them joint-fourth among the league's tightest defences – only Leicester City, Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion have conceded fewer goals.
Cardiff are in mixed form in the Championship, with two wins and two draws from their last six games.
With no wins and a draw over that period, Norwich's form is much worse – they have taken one point from 18, compared to Cardiff City's eight.
In Jak Alnwick, the Bluebirds can rely on one of the league's safest pair of hands. He has kept six clean sheets in his 14 appearances this season, and only one other 'keeper – West Bromwich Albion's Alex Palmer – has been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in the Championship.
In Norwich City's net, Angus Gunn has three clean sheets in 12 games. He has conceded a goal every 64 minutes, twice as often as the 126 minutes between goals for Alnwick.
In the last 10 years, Cardiff and Norwich have played each other on 12 occasions. Cardiff won four of them and Norwich eight.
On average, the Bluebirds scored 1.3 goals and the Canaries 1.8 in those matches.
Their last meeting was on February 25, when Norwich won 2-0 at home.
The home team are seventh in the table after 15 games, of which they have won seven and drawn three, earning 24 points.
The Canaries are 11 places behind Cardiff in 18th, with five wins and two draws putting them on 17 points.
Cardiff's last match was on November 4, a 0-0 draw against Stoke City.
Norwich lost 3-1 against Blackburn Rovers last time out, on Sunday, with Gabriel Sara on the scoresheet.
